Row 3: Dec, hdc x2, dec. Then ch x1 and turn.
Row 4: Dec, dec. Then fasten off and weave in any ends.
Skip 14 stitches, rejoin the fuzzy yarn, and do the above steps on the other side of the hat.
With the light blue, white, and delft blue yarn, make a slip knot with all 3 yarns and sc the entire edge of the hat. Then fasten off the yarn and weave in the ends.
Make 3 x 24″ inch strips of the Delft blue, light blue, and white. Then insert them at the bottom of the ear flap where I am pointing.
Divide the yarns into 3 sections – 2 of each color and then braid. Secure with an extra piece of string at the bottom with a knot to keep the braids in place.
Repeat for the other side of the hat.

Expert Tips:
- Select the right yarn: Yarn should be soft and comfortable against the skin, especially for kids.
- Use stitch marker: This will help you stay on track with all your rounds and avoid making mistakes in stitch count.
- Tension control: Your attention and consistency are a must throughout the pattern. If your stitches are very close, the hat may end up smaller. If you are too loose, the hat may hold its shape well.
- Select Gauge Swatch: Always choose a small gauge swatch to ensure your stitches count and tension match the pattern.
- Count stitches: Count your design stitches after every round because fuzzy yarn makes it harder to see where each stitch is placed.
