Best Frog Coaster Pattern

Add some color to your home with this Best Frog coaster pattern. I’m still on a bit of a froggy kick after making my Crochet Frog Purse Pattern and thought it would be fun to make something similar but on a smaller scale.

This Best Frog Coaster Pattern is sure to bring a smile to your face! Quick and easy to make, you can complete a coaster in less than 20 minutes.

Ideal for last-minute gifts, like Christmas, housewarming, or baby showers, they’ll have friends wondering where you got such adorable coasters—and you can proudly say you made them.

It uses cotton yarn, which is breathable and absorbent. Cotton is excellent for coasters, summer hats, and wash rags, while acrylic isn’t suitable since it’s not absorbent.

I’ve used cotton yarn in other patterns, like my Crochet Bunny Ear Beanie pattern, Crochet Polar Bear Hat, and Snowman Coaster Crochet Pattern.

Things To Note:

Use Cotton Yarn: For best results, use cotton yarn. It’s absorbent, breathable, and holds up well to heat.

Beginner-Friendly Pattern: This pattern is perfect for those new to crochet, involving just 4 simple rounds.

Adjustable Size: The finished coaster is approximately 4.5 inches wide. You can easily adjust the size by using a smaller or larger crochet hook.

This pattern is made in rounds. Here is how to crochet a frog for beginners:

Round 1: Using the green yarn, make a magic ring and immediately chain 2. Then dc x12 into the magic ring. To secure the round, sl st to the 1st dc in the round (12).

Round 2: Ch x2, then dc inc in every stitch from the previous round. Then sl st to the first dc in the round (24).

Round 3: Ch x2, then dc inc, dc and repeat for the rest of the round. Then sl st to the first dc in the round (36).

Round 4: This is the last round for the crochet frog coaster and will help create its overall shape

Sc, then we are making the first eye socket. Skip a stitch and then in 1 stitch: dc, tr x4, and dc. Then skip the next stitch and immediately make a sl st in the following stitch. Sl st along the next 6 stitches.

Then we are going to make another eye socket. Skip a stitch and then in 1 stitch: dc, tr x4, and dc. Then skip the next stitch and immediately make a sc in the following stitch. After anchoring the eye socket follow the rest of the round:

Sc inc, hdc, dc, dc inc, dc, hdc, hdc inc, sc x7, hdc inc, hdc, dc, dc inc, dc, hdc, sc inc, sl st to 1st sc in the round and fasten off. Then weave in any loose ends.

Embroidery:

Using the black yarn and tapestry needle, make little eyes in the eye sockets. I made sideways V’s but you can do any eye shape. Make a small line for the mouth at the top of the frog in between the eye sockets.

And now you have a finished frog coaster. Perfect for any occasion.
